The opportunity to shred outdated documents and recycle electronic devices – at no charge – brought members of the community together on the grounds of Maspeth Federal Savings’ main office on Saturday, October 16, 2021. The bank partnered with C.O.M.E.T. (Communities of Maspeth and Elmhurst Together Civic Association) and the 104th, 108th, and 110th precincts to provide free VIN (vehicle identification number) etching on participants’ vehicles, which assists law-enforcement in finding them if they’re ever stolen.
Big Reuse partnered with NYC Sanitation to give out leaf-collection bags and information about composting. Attendees left with free pumpkins, courtesy of MFS, as part of the bank’s twice-yearly, eagerly anticipated, Recycle Event that benefits the community. Our next community Recycle Event will be in the Spring.
