7 If you’re working from home, it could be hard to maintain a schedule and keep boundaries between your personal life and your work. To be most productive, set a schedule, create a designated office space and take breaks as you would at the office. Also, be sure to disconnect "after hours". Set a Daily Routine & "Office Hours" Focus on Mental Health Limit Distractions In-person human connection is essential for most of us, and it can be tough to suddenly lose many of those connections and personal interactions. Use this time to learn how to communicate more effectively. Schedule a call or send an email to a coworker. Leverage technology to maintain interactions with co-workers, family and friends. It may also help to include breaks in your schedule. Take a walk - a few minutes outside can be rejuvenating. When you work from home, you’ll likely face distractions, whether it’s the Amazon delivery person or family members who want to talk to you while you’re working. It's especially hard if you have very young kids, who don't understand that they can see you but you're not available to play. You may also find yourself distracted by little things, such as chores that need to be done or keeping up with the news and social media. This is why it is important to have a designated work space and signal that lets others know when you need to focus. Get Dressed Manage Your Time Listen to Music While staying in your pajamas sounds like a good idea, it can cause you to feel lazy. Getting dressed helps you maintain a routine, feel good and be prepared for those last minute video conference calls. Self-motivation and time management are critical. For the best results, identify how much energy and focus each task will take and then tackle them accordingly. Music has proven to be stimulating.
